Real Men Don’t Hit Women!

Contrary to what some think and even in some cases (shockingly) preach, Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, condemned the beating of women.

“How does anyone of you beat his wife as he beats the stallion camel and then he may embrace (sleep with) her?”
~ Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. (Bukhari 8.68)

As Muslims, we must stand united on this issue in solidarity with all decent brothers and sisters in our Human Family.

Violence against women is wrong, and must be stopped!

Come to UK for Iftar

Dr Warsi - insetBy Dr Talib Warsi
Director of Intrafaith Affairs, AOBM

It is now year 2013, in the Islamic Calendar 1434 AH. Over 1400 years ago a small group of followers of the Prophet of Islam, Mohammed Mustafa (PBUH), sat down to break their day’s fast in the holy month of Ramadan.

During the greater part his life, the great Prophet of Islam, the Messenger of God was harassed, condemned and even ridiculed by his fellow Arabs. But now we can say, ‘O Mohammed (PBUH), the message from God that you brought to the us has indeed reached the entire world,’ Labbaik (لبيك), congratulations to you. O Prophet of Allah, we now try our best to practice what you preached. Some of us reside far away from the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, in a different corners of the world, we live in England, UK is our home. A different continent, different time zone, different climate, different food and even different attire. But we follow your teachings, practice your faith Islam, as best as we can. Fortunately, O Prophet, we are able to do all this with great ease, comfort and freedom here in UK. This is perhaps beyond our belief and expectations when we compare our lives with the lives of fellow Muslims in other parts of the world. How wonderful it is to be living in this country.

Don’t Just Say “Insha Allah”, Make It So!

By Paul Salahuddin Armstrong

As Muslims, it is our custom to say “insha Allah” (God willing) whenever we agree to do something. The sad thing is, many brothers and sisters today, just say “insha Allah” even if they have no intention whatsoever, of doing that which they are agreeing to do. If you really are unable to do something, it’s better to come clean and say this, rather than making false promises.

Insha Allah means “if Allah wills”, but this only applies if we have sincerely made the intention to fulfil our agreement. If not, we are in actual fact blaming Allah SWT for our own failings, not an attitude a Muslim should take… Rather, we should do our level best to fulfil our agreements and only then, leave the rest to Allah.

Instead of just saying “insha Allah”, lets Make It So!

Don't Just Say Insha Allah, Make It So!

A Free and Open World, Depends on a Free and Open Internet

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Defend the Internet from the greedy banksters, crooked politicians, charlatan pastor-mullahs and other freaks who desire to destroy it!

“Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: The greatest jihad is to speak the word of truth to a tyrant.”
~ Mishkat, Book of Rulership and Judgment, ch. 1, sec. 2

Google is calling for a massive internet uprising in the wake of censorship bills that will ruin internet freedom forever! They have dedicated the page www.google.com/takeaction to raising awareness concerning this madness; it is very important that we continue to keep our Human Family’s link to one another open, to flourish freely.

“A free and open world depends on a free and open Internet. Governments alone, working behind closed doors, should not direct its future. The billions of people around the globe who use the Internet should have a voice.”
~ Google

Should the proposed changes go ahead, the internet will quite simply cease to be, as whatever would be left would no longer be the internet! Not only would this impact on our liberties, but it would harm our economies through reduced networking opportunities, damage the cause for representative government and destroy our Human Family’s hopes of a brighter, more peaceful world tomorrow, less restricted by national borders and the unnecessary conflict between nations.

On behalf of the future, we ask those of the past to leave us alone. You are not welcome among us. You have no sovereignty where we gather.

We the People of the Internet have no elected government, nor are we likely to have one; therefore we address those who would tyrannise us with no greater authority than that with which Liberty always speaks. We declare the global social space we are building to be naturally independent of the tyrannies you seek to impose on us.

Governments and corporations have no moral right to rule us, nor do they have the means to stop us!

Together we can and will move forward to bring into being a brighter tomorrow, but in order to do that, we all need to work together and defend the right to freely communicate without interference from greedy banksters, crooked politicians and charlatan pastor-mullahs who would stand in the way of our collective vision.

Give Peace a Chance

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

Aggression feeds further anger and hatred, continuing ongoing violence… Leaders on both sides in Palestine and Israel need to calm down and sit around a table, and AGREE a permanent settlement to end SIX DECADES of violence. Which eventually, at some point they must. The longer that takes, gives some indication of how much they really care for the wellbeing of the people they claim to represent.

Benjamin Netanyahu notwithstanding… Hamas “politicians” are just as responsible for this needless slaughter of innocents.

Why isn’t Hamas pursuing a peaceful resolution? Why are they shooting rockets towards Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, obviously with no pretext of just targeting military targets (the only type of military action permitted by Islam)? If nothing else, this type of behaviour is strategically inept, along with being ethically and morally irresponsible – such attacks, even with homemade rockets, will quite obviously incur reprisals… Due to the location of those launching the rockets, in densely populated areas, this will be at the expense of our Palestinian brothers and sisters living in Gaza. How is Hamas helping them?

The onus is on the Israeli Government to deploy more defensive (and defensible options) such as their “Iron Dome” missile defence system, they have the necessary technology, it’s outrageous that they should be pursuing aggressive attacks on Gaza, which will result in civilian casualties, irrespective how they go about them. As the more powerful party, they have a greater responsibility to pursue a more peaceful and diplomatic approach. We all know Israel has the military capability to completely flatten Gaza, but that is not the mark of any civilised state; and if Israel wants to be regarded as one, it needs to restrain itself!

The only true solution to this conflict is a permanent settlement agreed by both sides, to once and for all, put an end to over SIX DECADES of ongoing violence. The longer the Israeli and Palestinian politicians take to implement this, really does demonstrate little they actually care for the safety and wellbeing of all our brothers and sisters in Gaza, Israel and the West Bank. With politicians like these, neither Palestinians nor Israelis need enemies!

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, taught us that if we’re planting a tree, and the last day comes upon us, to carry on planting it. Implied in this hadith, is that no matter how terrible a situation appears, to keep on doing something positive and not to give up, for that is what marks a person of true faith in Allah SWT.

Please my dear brothers and sisters in Islam, make dua for a true and lasting Peace in the Holy Land, that all our brothers and sisters in Palestine/Israel will be safe from harm and that Allah SWT will open a way to a genuine peaceful settlement to the ongoing crisis.

May Allah SWT have mercy on us all…

Wa Salam,
