While I certainly don’t agree with the rioting, I understand. When you dehumanise people for so long, then expect them to behave properly and responsibly when it’s in your interests, what can you expect?
Though, it must be stressed that in spite of centuries of oppression and dehumanisation, most of the protests are peaceful – not riots! Many Black people and virtually all Black leaders are actively seeking to prevent and stop the riots.
People have every right to protest peacefully for Human Rights and for Justice. That some of these protests have had rioting going on around them shouldn’t be used as an excuse to stop all protests.
But when the value of property is highlighted, while the value of people’s lives is not addressed… Can we seriously not understand why people are feeling angry and frustrated?
