This morning, I attended the speech on Confronting Extremism Together from the Home Secretary, The Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP. One of the best I’ve listened to from a Home Secretary in years.
The Home Secretary highlighted the rise in hate and all forms of extremism, that this is no longer a problem that affects some minorities within British society, but has gotten worse, and grown into a mainstream issue that in its various forms; anti-Semitism, homophobia, anti-Muslim hate, islamism, far right, far left, etc. now affects everyone.
He pledged to do everything in his power to stop those who seek to undermine our country, and to tackle the root causes of extremism.
The Home Secretary appealed to us all to work to confront extremism and other problems in our society, to build unity in our communities, because “It takes the whole of society to challenge these vile views.”
