On the authority of Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Truly, the religion is ease. Anyone who tries to outdo the religion in strictness, it will overcome him. So remain steadfast and be moderate, and seek help with journeys of the morning and evening and a part of the night.”
Bukhārī (Mishkāt, Book of Prayer, Hadith no. 1246).
Islam is meant to be easy and to make our lives easier, like a well fitted comfortable garment. So don’t make your deen a burden to you, or it will become difficult to carry.
Be consistent in your practice of the deen, even if you are only practicing a little. Far better to do a little consistently, than to force yourself to do a lot that you cannot continue.
Once you establish consistency, you might want increase your practices. Should you wish to do so, do this in steps, to the degree you feel able. Consistency helps us to establish balance and progress in our spiritual path and our daily lives.
